Hello. I’m Kristy.
I’m a writer & storyteller who’s been stringing sentences together since I was nine. That was the year I won an honorable mention in a poetry contest and felt as if I’d won Willy Wonka’s golden ticket. My prize – a bright red lollipop. I beamed with pride and have been a word girl ever since. I’m finally writing my debut novel after all these years.
Aside from writing, I’m a proud wife & mom who hoards books and has a mild sweet tea addiction! I graduated from Carson-Newman University with a BA degree in Communications and took additional coursework in special education. I spent a number of years working in special education support roles serving students with autism and other learning differences. It was an honor and privilege as they taught me far more than I could ever teach them. I learned lessons about patience, perseverance, acceptance and unconditional love. I continue to advocate for individuals with special needs as well as those with mental illness.
Side Note: I’m known as the Back Road Diva – a title lovingly given by my husband because of my delight in traveling the back roads to find neat, out of the way places.
I’m also a Jesus girl. My faith and family are very important to me. We live south of Nashville, Tennessee, and since I love music… it’s only fitting that we live near Music City. As a lifelong southerner, the region can’t help but weave its way into my stories as you’ll soon read.
Here on the website, you’ll find Monday Motivations, random blog posts and occasional updates about my novel writing. Thanks for your interest in my work. I enjoy sharing my writing and hope to offer a little encouragement along the way!
I’m glad you’re here.
